Anti-Wrinkle Stopped Working? What Our Brentwood Clinical Director Recommends

"It just doesn't seem to work like it used to." It is something we hear regularly from people who have had anti-wrinkle injections for years. In this video Paul, our Clinical Director, explains why it can happen, and what we do about it.

Paul appears in real video filmed at our clinic; his voice in this video is AI-generated and lip-synced, made with his consent. The treatment footage is real and filmed with consent.

You're not imagining it

Some people find their results fade sooner than they used to, or that the treatment doesn't seem to take as well. There are several possible reasons, from how the treatment has been planned and spaced, to changes in the skin and muscles over time.

Step one: a proper review

Before changing anything, we review your history in detail: how long you have been having treatment, how often, where, and what results you have had. Often, adjusting the plan or the timing is enough.

Deeper lines need a different approach

Anti-wrinkle treatment relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines. But deeper lines that are etched into the skin, even at rest, are partly about the skin itself. Relaxing the muscle alone may not soften them fully.

Other options we may discuss

For some people, skin boosters can improve the quality and hydration of the skin. For carefully selected deeper lines, a very soft filler technique can smooth what is left, without a heavy or lumpy look. Every option is discussed at a consultation and only used where it suits you.

Every face is different

There is no single answer. That is why we take the time to look at you properly, explain the options in plain English, and agree a plan together.

Frequently asked questions

Should I just have a bigger dose?

Not necessarily. More is not always better, and it can change how natural you look. A review comes first.

Can I combine treatments?

Sometimes, yes. We will explain what can be combined, and when, at your consultation.

I was treated somewhere else. Can you still help?

Yes. Bring whatever information you have about previous treatments and we will review it with you.

How long is the consultation?

Long enough to answer every question you have. There is no rush.

Why timing matters

How often treatment is repeated can make a difference to how well it seems to work. Topping up too early, or too often, is not always the best approach. Part of our review is agreeing sensible timing with you, so you get the most from each appointment.

Looking at the skin, not just the muscle

Over the years skin naturally becomes thinner and loses some of its bounce. That means lines can become partly "etched in", even when the muscles are relaxed. Improving the quality of the skin itself is often the missing piece, which is why skin boosters can be part of the conversation.
