Just had an IV drip? Most people feel fine straight away. Here is what to do today and what to look out for.
In the video, Umesh, Medical Director at 65 Medical, talks you through it. Everything he covers is written out below so you can come back to it.
Your aftercare, step by step
First hour
Keep the plaster on and press gently if it bleeds. Avoid lifting anything heavy with that arm.
Today
Drink plenty of water and eat normally. Avoid alcohol today. Some people feel energised, others sleepy or need the loo more: both are normal. A small bruise at the cannula site is common.
Next 48 hours
Carry on as normal. A warm compress helps a bruise fade.
Your plan
If you are on a course, keep sessions spaced as your clinician advised.
What's normal
- A small bruise where the cannula was
- Feeling tired or energised
- A metallic taste during or just after the drip
When to call us
- The cannula site becoming hot, red, swollen or more painful
- A hard, tender line along the vein
- Feeling unwell, dizzy or faint after you get home
Call the clinic on 020 7252 3333, or our 24-hour line on 07414 163998.
When it is urgent

This is general aftercare information. Always follow any specific advice your clinician gave you on the day. If you were treated at another clinic, contact them first, as products and techniques vary.
Results vary from person to person. Every treatment starts with a consultation with a registered clinician.
