Lip Filler Isn't Just for Women: Natural Results for Men at Our Brentwood Clinic

When people think of lip filler, they often picture bigger, fuller lips. But lip filler isn't just for women, and it isn't always about size. Paul, our Clinical Director, is 58. On a recent TikTok Live from our clinic on Kings Road, Brentwood, our nurse Bina treated his lips to show what a natural result looks like.

Umesh, Medical Director at 65 Medical, appears in real video; his voice is AI-generated and lip-synced, with his consent. The treatment footage is real, filmed live with consent. Results vary.

Why lips change as we age

Our skin makes hyaluronic acid naturally. It draws in water and helps keep skin plump. As we get older, lips can lose some of that hydration, and the texture can become dry and crepey, especially in colder weather. As Paul puts it, lips were something he never really thought he needed. The aim here was not new lips. It was softer, healthier-looking ones.

No new shape, nothing feminine

For many male and older patients, the goal is texture and hydration, not shape or volume. Bina doesn't lift the Cupid's bow or create a pout, because that is what tends to make lips look more feminine. Instead she works in a linear way, softening around the lips and following their natural shape. Asked afterwards whether the result looked feminine, the answer was simple: "Not feminine at all."

A finer needle and tiny amounts

In the video Bina compares the needle that comes in the box with the much finer one she uses. The box needle is longer and thicker, and the pressure from the syringe makes it easier to inject too much. By decanting the filler into a finer needle, she can be more precise about how much goes in, which helps avoid overdoing it. A finer needle can also mean less swelling and bruising.

What does it feel like?

Paul describes himself as the worst patient in the world, and if it hurts, he says so. On camera he said he didn't feel it. Many fillers contain their own local anaesthetic, and together with a fine needle and a gentle technique, that helps keep lip treatments comfortable. Everyone's experience is different, and some swelling straight afterwards is normal.

The result

Straight after treatment there was a little swelling from the needle, which settles. You can see his lips look smoother and softer, with no added shape. The idea is that when the weather turns cold, his lips stay hydrated rather than chapped.
