Thinking about dermal fillers usually starts with a question, not a decision. In this article we explain why dermal filler treatment at 65Beauty begins with a nurse-led consultation, what you can ask the nurse, and why there is no need to rush into anything.
The video shows real treatment footage. It is not a filmed consultation or a before-and-after result, and the closing image is a still taken from the same footage.
A conversation, not a commitment
At 65Beauty, a nurse-led, CQC-registered clinic at 39 Kings Road, Brentwood, dermal filler starts with a consultation. That first appointment is a conversation about you: what you have noticed, what you would like to explore and whether treatment is suitable for you at all.
Booking a consultation does not commit you to treatment. Many people use it simply to understand their options, ask questions in a calm setting and go away to think. Everyone is assessed individually, so take the time you need before deciding.
What dermal filler is
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments, typically based on hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the skin. Depending on the area and the individual, filler may be used to add support, restore some lost volume or soften the look of certain lines and folds.
What is appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another. Dermal filler is not right for everyone, and the nurse will explain how treatment would work in your case, or why another approach, or no treatment, might be the better choice.
Questions to ask the nurse
A consultation is your opportunity to ask anything, and we encourage it. Questions that many people find useful include:
- Is treatment suitable for me? The nurse will go through your medical history, any medicines you take and anything that may mean treatment should be postponed or avoided.
- What are the risks? Common short-lived effects can include redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising. The nurse will also explain less common complications and how they are managed.
- What are the alternatives? There may be other treatments to consider, and choosing not to proceed is always an option.
- What does recovery involve? Ask what the first few days may look like and whether you need to plan around work or social events.
- What aftercare will I need? You will be told how to look after the treated area and who to contact if you have concerns.
If something is unclear, ask again. An informed decision depends on understanding the answers.
After your treatment
If you and the nurse agree that treatment is suitable and you choose to go ahead, you will receive aftercare guidance specific to you. Some swelling or bruising is common for a short time. General advice often includes avoiding strenuous exercise, saunas and intense heat for around 24 to 48 hours, but your practitioner will talk you through the aftercare that applies to your treatment.
Results vary from person to person, and filler can take a little time to settle. Any follow-up arrangements will be explained at your appointment.
Common questions
Why does the consultation need to be nurse-led?
Dermal filler is a medical aesthetic treatment. A nurse-led consultation means your health history, suitability and risks are considered by a clinical professional before any treatment decision is made.
Will I be treated at my consultation?
Not necessarily. That depends on your assessment and on whether you feel ready. You are welcome to take time to think.
Who can have dermal filler?
Dermal filler treatment is for adults aged 18 and over, and only where the nurse considers it suitable after an individual assessment.
Does the video show a typical result?
No. The video shows treatment footage only. It is not a before-and-after comparison and does not show a healed result.
