Lost 12 Stone: Restoring Facial Volume After Weight Loss at Our Brentwood Clinic

Losing a lot of weight is a huge achievement. It takes commitment, and it often brings real changes to health and confidence. But sometimes the face loses volume too, and people can be left feeling that they look more tired than they feel. In this article Bina, one of the nurses at 65Beauty, explains how she gently restored some of that lost support for Candy, who has lost 12 stone.

Bina appears in real video filmed at our clinic; her voice in this video is AI-generated and lip-synced, made with her consent. The treatment footage is real and filmed with consent.

Why the face can change after weight loss

Our faces contain natural fat pads that give the cheeks and mid-face their fullness and help support the skin. When someone loses a significant amount of weight, some of that facial fat can be lost along with it. Combined with the natural changes that come with age, this can lead to flatter cheeks, deeper lines around the nose and mouth, and a look that some people describe as hollow or drawn.

It is a very common concern, and it is nothing to feel self-conscious about. It is simply the face catching up with a big change in the body.

Meet Candy

Candy has lost 12 stone and came to see us because she felt her face no longer matched how well she was feeling. Candy kindly gave her written consent for us to share her treatment, so others in the same position can see what an appointment looks like. We are very grateful to her.

Why we started with the cheeks

As Bina explains in the video, she started in the cheeks. The cheeks act as a kind of scaffold for the lower face. When volume is restored there, it can help lift and support the areas below, which often means less product is needed around the mouth. Treating the face as a whole, rather than chasing individual lines, tends to give a softer and more natural result.

Small amounts, built up slowly

The aim is never to change who someone is. Bina used small amounts of dermal filler, built up slowly, so Candy still looks like Candy. Working gradually allows the practitioner to assess the face as they go and stop when the balance looks right. If more support is needed, it can be considered at a later review, rather than doing too much at once.

What to expect afterwards

A little swelling or redness for a few days is normal after dermal filler treatment, and you may notice some tenderness or small bruises at the treatment points. These usually settle on their own. Your practitioner will give you aftercare advice and explain the possible side effects, including the rarer ones, during your consultation. If anything worries you after your appointment, contact us straight away. Results vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

Should I wait until I have finished losing weight?

It is often sensible to wait until your weight has been stable for a while, so any treatment is planned around your face as it will be. We can talk this through at your consultation.

Will I look overfilled?

Our approach is to use small amounts and build up slowly, aiming for a natural, refreshed look. Your plan is tailored to you and agreed together.

Is dermal filler suitable for everyone?

No. It is not suitable for everyone, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain medical conditions. That is why every treatment starts with a consultation.

How long does treatment take?

It depends on the areas being treated. Allow time for your consultation as well as the treatment itself, and we will give you a timeframe when you book.
