Getting a GP appointment when you need one is not always easy. Online private GP appointments are one way to speak to a doctor at a time that suits you, without travelling to a surgery. In this article we explain what a video or telephone appointment with Dr Ayaz Tokhi involves, what it can help with, and how to get the most from your 20 minutes.
Who you will be speaking to
Dr Ayaz Tokhi is a GMC-registered GP who has worked in NHS general practice since 2018. He has a special interest in minor skin surgery, medical weight management and joint injections, and he currently provides general GP services within the NHS. Through his own clinic he offers private GP appointments, and 65Beauty patients can book with him directly through our website.
His appointments are by video or by phone, so you do not need to come into our Brentwood clinic to see him.
What an online GP appointment can help with
A private GP appointment is a chance to talk something through properly with a doctor. People commonly book for:
- New symptoms that have been bothering them, or a long-term condition they would like to review
- Advice on weight management, hair loss, sleep, stress or general wellbeing
- Men's and women's health questions
- Help understanding test results, including private blood tests
- Private referral letters to a specialist
Any tests, prescriptions, referrals or fit notes are at the doctor's clinical discretion and are not guaranteed. Some concerns are better assessed in person, and if that is the case Dr Tokhi will tell you and explain your options.
Video or telephone: which should you choose?
Both appointments last 20 minutes. A video appointment (£75) lets the doctor see you, which can help if you want to show him something, such as a skin concern. A telephone appointment (£65) suits many conversations where seeing you is not needed, and works well if you are at work or on the move.
If you are not sure, a video appointment gives the doctor the most information.
How booking works
You book and pay online, in the same way as any other 65Beauty appointment:
- Choose a video or telephone appointment on our private GP page.
- Pick one of Dr Tokhi's available times. These come live from his diary.
- Enter your details and agree to us sharing your name, contact details and date of birth with his clinic, so he can see you.
- Pay securely online. You will not be asked to pay again.
At your booked time, Dr Tokhi will join the video call or call the number you gave us. If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please give at least 48 hours' notice.
How to get the most from your appointment
Twenty minutes goes quickly. A little preparation helps:
- Write down your main concern and when it started, plus anything that makes it better or worse.
- Have a list of any medicines you take, including supplements and anything bought over the counter.
- Have recent test results to hand, if they are relevant.
- Find a quiet, private space with a good signal. For video, a well-lit room helps.
- Note down the advice you are given, or ask the doctor to repeat anything that is unclear.
Is it instead of my NHS GP?
No. A private GP appointment sits alongside your NHS care rather than replacing it. You stay registered with your own GP practice. If you have a medical emergency, call 999. For urgent advice when you are not sure what to do, call NHS 111.
