Trying to get a GP appointment can feel impossible. Ringing at eight in the morning, waiting in a phone queue, then being told to try again tomorrow is a familiar story for a lot of people. In this article Paul, Clinical Director at 65Beauty, explains our private GP service with Dr Ayaz Tokhi, and how it can sit alongside the care you already get from your NHS GP.
Paul appears in real video filmed at our clinic; his voice in this video is AI-generated and lip-synced, made with his consent. The video shows our website's private GP and booking pages.
Meet Dr Ayaz Tokhi
We have teamed up with Dr Ayaz Tokhi, a GMC-registered GP with years of NHS experience. Being registered with the General Medical Council means he is licensed to practise medicine in the UK and is held to the GMC's professional standards. His NHS background means he understands how private and NHS care fit together, which matters when it comes to follow-up, referrals and making sure your care stays joined up.
How it works
- Book online. Choose a time that suits you on our website. It only takes a few minutes.
- Choose video or phone. Appointments are 20 minutes, by video or phone, whichever you prefer.
- He calls you. At your appointment time, Dr Tokhi calls you. No travelling, no waiting room.
- Next steps. If anything needs follow-up, the doctor will explain your options clearly.
What you can talk about
A private GP appointment can be a chance to talk through a health concern that has been on your mind, ask questions about symptoms, discuss test results or simply get a medical opinion without the wait. Twenty minutes gives you time to explain things properly and ask what you need to ask. Some conditions need a physical examination or urgent in-person care, and the doctor will tell you if that is the case.
It sits alongside your NHS GP, not instead of it
This is important. A private GP appointment does not replace your NHS GP. It sits alongside it. You should stay registered with your NHS practice, which holds your full medical record and coordinates your long-term care. Many people use a private appointment for speed and convenience, while keeping their NHS GP for ongoing care.
Prescriptions and referrals are always at the doctor's discretion. Dr Tokhi will make decisions based on what is clinically appropriate for you, which means you may not always leave with a prescription or referral, and that is part of safe, responsible care.
When to seek urgent help instead
A booked video or phone appointment is not the right choice in an emergency. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of a stroke or any other serious or life-threatening symptoms, call 999. For urgent medical advice that is not an emergency, you can contact NHS 111.
